At Everblack Angus, we raise purebred black Angus cattle with the primary purpose of providing low maintenance, easy-doing breeding stock for our commercial and purebred customers.

The Everblack Angus Story

Everblack Angus – christened as such for the row of evergreen trees that once bordered our farmyard shelterbelt and the type and colour of cattle we had decided to raise – was started in 1965 with the purchase of ten purebred black Angus cows. My father, Frank Gibson, had always used Angus bulls on his commercial cowherd so it was natural that we gravitated towards the Angus breed. Like many operations, we ran a commercial herd and slowly developed our purebred herd, working to establish a steady commercial bull market, consign females to several select sales, and export cattle to various countries including USA, Mexico, Japan, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Today, we manage 350 purebred mother cows on our ranch south of Vermilion, Alberta. We also crop 3,500 acres of feed and grain land, host our own annual bull and female sale, and continue to consign females to select sales. We have belonged to the Canadian Angus Association since 1966, recently receiving a heritage award for our fifty-year participation in the organization.

Looking back, Angus cattle have not always been the most sought-after type of animal, however, today’s popularity has definitely justified our continued belief in the breed. We think Angus cattle truly are the adhesive of the cattle industry. Thank you for your continued support.
